I watched a portion of last night’s debate. And I’m not sure why I even spent that time watching these two candidates debate about issues that I do care about but I know I disagree with them over. I am a Libertarian and I do realize that a Libertarian candidate has a long way to go before we have one in the White House. The main reason being is that the Republicans and Democrats are much too bought and paid for. The fact of the matter is that the Libertarian principles are not built for the system we have where corporations can be considered people and Super PACs can spend unlimited funds on whatever candidate and cause they wish.
Here is where you can make a difference, regardless of which party you stand by. Local issues. They are still ripe and can be swayed by simple involvement. If you really work with your local politicians and fight hard for local issues then you, as an individual, are able to make a massive impact for your principles. So, if you are bent on a third party or are disenfranchised by the two major parties, then make your voice heard on the local level and work your way up instead of starting from the top and working down. The fact of the matter is is that principles that are not those of the Republicans and Democrats will need to start at the grassroots level and work their way up if we hope to have true change at the Presidential level.
Get involved. Let your voice be heard.
